​Much of the formative work done on the Bigelow Neighborhood Association, Bigelow Springs Park, the first BNA website, and more came from Jay Elder, a resident of Olympia Avenue and a former teacher at Olympia High School for 30 years. Through his organizational work and his activism around city planning as well as his direct physical labor, so many parts of this community have benefitted from Jay's touch. He had an unmatched love for his neighborhood, his family, and his community, and that love is apparent in the culture that continues to grow here.
